Season of Savings sale starts Oct. 28
Lowe’s is gearing up for another long holiday shopping season.
The North Carolina-based home improvement chain announced Wednesday that its second annual “Season of Savings” sale will start Oct. 28 with new deals dropping every week through December.
The savings will be available while supplies last and in categories including tools, smart home, appliances, décor and more.
But like last Black Friday, expect the second holiday season of the coronavirus pandemic to be different from years past.
With the ongoing supply chain bottlenecks and shortages caused by the pandemic, experts recommend that consumers start shopping for holiday gifts now ahead of Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

Bill Boltz, Lowe’s executive vice president of merchandising, said on a call with reporters that stores are prepared and focused on trying to take the stress out of holiday shopping.
“Even before the transportation issues started to surface, we had made a strategic decision to order more products into our warehouses and stores earlier for this year’s season,” Boltz said, adding that he still recommends all customers shop early.
According to a Lowe’s holiday survey, more than 90% of consumers plan to spend as much, if not more, than last year on holiday gifts. The retailer also launched a “make more” campaign to help consumers with special services and expanded inventory, plus has more than double the gifts from last year in its Gift Zone.
Boltz said Lowe’s has grown its holiday decor selection to include Kwanzaa and Hanukkah items. He added the company has 40 new holiday collections online and there will also be more gifts available.
The company is offering its “largest selection of artificial trees ever” and beginning in mid-November, fresh-cut tree lots will return to Lowe’s Garden Centers nationwide.
Lowe’s Black Friday doorbusters
Last year, many retailers kissed many in-store-only doorbusters goodbye and made way for more online specials.
“We’re not doing any (in-store) doorbuster deals,” Boltz said. “You know we don’t want 500 folks lined up outside the door but we will have Black Friday offers running all week and we’re going to have day after Thanksgiving offers.”
But there will be online deals.
Throughout November, Lowe’s will offer “Cyber Steals” like it did last year, which are daily one-day, online-only offers.
“We’ll continue to have values each week from Thanksgiving week all the way through to Christmas,” Boltz said.
Other retailers have started announcing holiday plans. Walmart said Monday it will have three Black Friday sales like last year that will start online and then continue in stores. Best Buy has an early Black Friday sale through Friday.
